However while shopping in Toowoomba, Jacqui noticed a gaping hole - a niche in the market - for a premium bridal store experience.

And so, with a business background, Jacqui's imagination was fuelled. Jacqui imagined bridal done better.

She envisioned a Showroom experience where bridal gowns weren't stuffed in protector bags - instead beautifully laid out across a huge floor space on mannequins; and where staff truly engaged - not in a snobby way - with Brides-to-be and their Bridesmaids.

Six months later, on the 17th of August 2000, Jacqui's showroom was born: A Touch Of Romance Bridal & Formal - where dreams come true.

The showroom quickly became the pinnacle of Toowoomba's bridal scene. With each new Bridal season, an in-showroom Catwalk Designer Event was held - and Celebrity Designers would appear as VIP Guests. Brides-to-be loved the opportunity to meet directly with the Designer of their dream dress, and were able to ask about modifications they had in mind. At these events, talented wedding musicians were showcased, while champagne flowed, and the lolly-stations and canapés were always popular.

Fast-forwarding to December 2004 - with a heart for growing beautiful brands, Jacqui's son David Walker became a partner in the company, and he pursued the vision of opening more stores. By June 2006, the brand employed 22 Staff across 3 beautiful Showrooms in Toowoomba, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast. Then, our own label, Romance, was born.

Every year for 12 years, no less than 1,500 Brides chose our Showroom for their dream wedding dress.

After 12 years leading the company, it was time for our talented Founder Jacqui Walker to diversify her interests, so she said goodbye to her much-loved brand - but son David Walker wasn't done.

In March 2019, David re-launched the store 100% Online and it quickly became Australia's easiest way to purchase the most sensational bridal and formal dresses.

Then in September 2023 - by popular demand - our beautiful online shopping experience opened for your immersive visit at the enchanting Highfields Village Green behind The Chocolate Cottage in Shop 3b. Here, Brides of Toowoomba and Highfields to touch, feel and discover their Dream Dress.
